Service & Special Projects Manager – Los Angeles CA

Position Summary:

The Service & Special Projects Manager (SSPM) provides operational oversight for the Service and Special Projects departments and has P&L responsibility with a focus on operational excellence. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries. The SSPM will work closely with the Senior Director of Operations (SDO) to strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of efficiency, productivity, and success for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To be successful in this role the following essential duties must be performed:

  • Sales & Budget Goals: Responsible for hitting year-over-year sales goals and strategies to meet Service and Special Projects budget goals.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Monitors the monthly JPR project reviews and helps implement strategies as necessary to mitigate fade in profitability and schedule. Monitors management of project schedules and project budgets to ensure month over month profitability
  • Finance & Reporting: Responsible for the review and approval of operational reporting such as JPRs, projections, monthly billings, WIP, etc.
  • Strategy and Innovation: Responsible for identifying and implementing new strategies to accelerate growth including, but not limited to, expanding Service to other Giroux geographies.
  • Operational Management: Provides Service and Special Projects operational oversight in the areas of client management, procedural issues, financial and reporting issues, and workforce planning and analysis. Regularly review and use metrics to identify areas of opportunity for improved efficiency. Monitors the development, training and mentoring of the Service and Special Projects teams.
  • Internal Policy & Procedures (SOP): Ensure the Service and Special Projects teams are adhering to internal policies and SOPs.
  • Risk & Compliance: Identify and address areas of concern regarding potential liabilities and risk as it relates to Service work.
  • Mentorship: Leads by example and provide mentorship to the Service and Special Projects teams.
  • Customer & Client Orientation: Maintain, develop, and enhance relationships with Giroux clients. Manage and maintain “Strategic Partner” subcontractor and vendor relationships. Maintain external client relationships and manage conflict resolution.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with Senior Director of Preconstruction when Service requests should be bid as Special Projects. Partner with human resources to develop and implement training programs to expand the capacity of all staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in service management, project management, and/or estimating.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent field experience.
  • Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, equipment and methods required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and motivate others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam
  • Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This Service & Special Projects Manager position has significant supervisory responsibility. The position oversees the Service Estimators, Service Project Managers, and Special Projects Project Management Team
