CAD Manager

Job Summary: Must have minimum 10 years in the glazing industry in preparing/overseeing shop drawings for storefronts, curtain walls, window walls, unitized and other glazing systems. Responsible for overseeing the CAD Technicians for the CA Commercial Department. Requires the ability and knowledge to effectively understand all types of aluminum systems (for both exterior and interior applications), current software, as well as to communicate closely with project managers, field foremen and the fabrication implementation specialist. Must have a high level of attention to detail in order to oversee the accuracy and feasibility/practicality of the team’s work prior to systems’ fabrication and installation.

Principal responsibilities:

  • review and comment on all shop drawings, revisions, material takeoffs, glass releases and fabrication packages (not the input into Glazier Studio or Panel Builder) in a timely manner
  • maintain our current standards, enforce current procedures, assist with creating/updating future CAD procedures
  • delegate tasks to the team via Smartsheet
  • attend meetings for project and fabrication turnover, and CAD kickoff
  • attend monthly JPR meeting to review current cad schedule
  • meet weekly both with team and with individual CAD technicians
  • work on shop drawings for small projects (as needed)
  • facilitate/participate in monthly CAD peer group meetings (across the company)
  • attend BIM coordination meeting (as needed)

Skills required:

  • understanding of windows operation system
  • proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Revit, Navisworks and Bluebeam, Inventor is a plus
  • Knowledge of systems and materials used in the glazing industry
  • knowledge of software and tech equipment used in construction
  • adept with problem analysis and solving
  • consistent ability to exercise good judgement and make good decisions
  • ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with positive attitude

Education:

  • Minimum: undergraduate degree in architecture/engineering or extensive equivalent experience in the glazing industry

Salary range: $100K to $120K
